There’s an air of joy for Premier League teams on midweek as both Liverpool along with Tottenham Hotspur made it through into the knock out stages of Champions League.

Liverpool got themselves out of a difficult situation following their 1-0 victory against Napoli, while Tottenham made it despite only drawing 1-1 against Barcelona.

Needing a win without letting their opponent scoring, The Reds were in for a difficult task at Anfield.

However, their strong start into the match made things much smoother for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they were able to press high up the pitch and gave their opponent many problems.

The Reds’ high pressing approach was rewarded as they got themselves ahead during the first 45 minutes through Mohamed Salah’s effort which lasted until half time break.

In the second period, Napoli tried hard to get back into the match triggering a more intense battle which saw both teams creating many opportunities.

Liverpool needed a dramatic save late in the game from their keeper Alisson to secure their 1-0 lead as they will be eliminated should the Partenopei scored.

Meanwhile, Tottenham needed to equal any results made by Inter Milan if they want to go into the knock out stage.

Things didn’t look great for Spurs as they were 1-0 down in the first half through Ousmane Dembele’s goal, but were able to get back on level terms five minutes from time through Lucas Moura’s effort.

Fortunately for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, Inter also picked up a point from their game against PSV Eindhoven, so the Premier League outfit marched on thanks to a better aggregate record.
