Italian Football Mourn Davide Astori’s Passing as Sunday Fixtures Postponed

Another sad news arrived for football fans, especially those who love Italian football as Fiorentina’s captain and national team defender, Davide Astori has passed away on Sunday morning ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Udinese.

The sudden passing of Astori simply shocked Italian football as there were no signs whatsoever on Saturday, seeing the player himself was still preparing well for the upcoming match.

However, reports from Italian media stated that this morning, the former Cagliari defender was found dead in the hotel room where his team stayed as apparently he passed away on his sleep.

La Viola confirmed their captain’s passing, revealing that he failed to wake up from bed on Sunday morning, while latest report also adding that the ex- AC Milan youth product died due to cardiac arrest by natural causes.

This sad news shocked many people in Italia, notably those involved in Italian football as not many saw it coming, considering Astori hasn’t been reported to suffer any recent illness.

Acknowledging the emotional condition of many players and coaches around the league, Lega Calcio opted to postpone all Italian Serie A and B games this Sunday, giving everyone the chance to honor Astori.

Being in the league for quite some time already, the 31-year-old are quite well known among his peers and also coaches, his involvement in Italian national team also brings him plenty affection from everyone outside of Italy as well.

There’s no confirmation on when the postponed games will be played as for now everyone involved in Italian football are giving their final honor for such a fine player and person.
