Iceland Still Hopeful Over Qualification as They Face Croatia

Iceland’s hope of advancing into the knock out stage of World Cup 2018 got slimmer following their 2-0 defeat from Nigeria, but that doesn’t stop Our Boys from giving their all on their final group game against Croatia.

Although their shot of qualifying into the next round will rely on other teams’ result, Heimir Hallgrimson’s side must secure their result first, that’s why beating Vatreni is an important target for Gylfi Sigurdsson and co.

Having the experience of beating Croatia once during World Cup qualifier, Iceland will try to emulate all of the tactical setup which brought them that success almost a year ago.

However, it’s a rather different situation with Zlatko Dalic’s side are in such high confidence going into the final group game, following their two straight victories.

Croatia themselves are still keen on making their winning record in this group stage perfect, which can only happen by defeating Iceland.

Already battling twice during qualifier, Dalic’s side certainly know a lot about their upcoming opponent, so there shouldn’t be anything surprising about what Our Boys going to set up.

Despite having an ambition to make it three out of three in their group game, Croatia do have their minds on the next round, so there will be some important players rested for this tie.

Probable starting line up:

Iceland: Hannes Halldorsson(g); Birkir Saevarsson, Kari Arnason, Ragnar Sigurdson, Hordur Magnusson; Aron Gunnarsson, Emil Hallfredsson, Johann Gudmundsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Birkir Bjarnason; Alfred Finnbogason.

Croatia: Lovre Kalinic(g); Tin Jedvaj, Vedran Corluka, Domagoj Vida, Josip Pivaric; Milan Badelj, Mateo Kovacic, Filip Bradaric; Marko Pjaca, Andrej Kramaric, Ivan Perisic.
