Germany Beat Australia in a Hard Fought Confederations Cup Battle
German national team’s decision not to sent their best squad for Confederations Cup 2017 could really give them plenty problems in the competition as it was already shown during their opening fixture against Australia.
Joachim Low’s men did manage to get all three points from that encounter, but it wasn’t after a hard fought battle before Der Panzer eventually coming out 3-2 winner as their opponent put lots of pressure, especially in the final stage of that tie.
The World Champion actually started off brightly as they dominate proceedings early on and earned their reward after five minutes of play through Lars Stindl.
However, Germany’s dominance in going forward was not followed with their defensive solidity as a mistake at the back, including disappointing goal keeping display resulted in an equalizing goal from Tomas Rogic, who scored four minutes before half time break.
Unfortunately, Low’s boys were able to regain their lead three minutes later when Julian Draxler calmly converted a spot kick which put his team taking a slender lead as both teams go into the dressing room.
After the break, Germany got off into a good start again as they look to pull away from their opponent by netting their third through Leon Goretzka’s effort.
Socceroos were not done yet though as they kept on pouncing and their relentless effort didn’t go fruitless as they grabbed another goal back, this time the goal coming from Tomislav Juric.
That 3-2 score line suddenly lifted Australia’s confidence as they started to put plenty of pressure towards their opponent, forcing the World Cup settling for a 3-2 victory.
