Everton’s disappointing results continue as they found themselves out of Europa League following their 3-0 defeat over French outfit Lyon.
Only grabbing one point ahead of their Thursday encounter, the struggling Premier League side were in desperate need of three points to keep their hope in that group stage round alive.
Things didn’t look too bad for The Toffees during the first 45 minutes which ended goalless, but midway into the second half, Lyon finally got their break through with a goal from Bertrand Traore.
Two more goals from Houssem Aouar along with Memphis Depay added more misery for the Merseyside outfit as they ended losing 3-0 on the day and even got one of their players, Morgan Schneiderlin sent off 10 minutes from time.
Meanwhile, Arsenal secured their spot in the knock out stages of Europa League despite only drawing 0-0 against Red Star Belgrade.
Grabbing a rather fortunate 1-0 victory in their previous meeting, Gunners run into another difficulty as their opponent put on a strong effort.
Resting some of their main starters, Arsene Wenger’s side obviously not having the most dominant display, but their goalless draw was more than enough to secure that place into the next round.
The draw put Arsenal on 10 points, which won’t be surpassed by any other teams in their group despite there’s two more games left to play.
