England Inching Closer to World Cup 2018 Spot After Come Back Win
England national team are edging closer to officially confirm their place for the upcoming 2018 World Cup in Russia after their success in defeating Slovakia 2-1 on Monday.
Three Lions were determined to extend their lead at the top of their World Cup qualifying group and facing their nearest rival, Slovakia, certainly the best possible way in doing it.
It was far from an easy ride though for Gareth Southgate’s men as they found themselves trailing by a goal after just three minutes when Stanislav Lobotka puts the visiting side ahead with his effort.
The home team were in no mood to give up easily though as they bounced back within 37 minutes from a goal scored by Eric Dier, who capitalized on an assist by Marcus Rashford.
Rashford then turned from provided into goal scorer just ahead of the hour mark as he finished off Jordan Henderson’s assist to complete England’s come back in that tie.
Winning 2-1 over Slovakia puts Three Lions five points ahead of their opponent in the current standings, which means they only need to avoid defeats on their last two qualifying games to secure automatic qualification for Russia 2018.
In other game, Germany also found themselves five points on top of their group following a massive 6-0 victory over Norway.
RB Leipzig striker bagged two goals in that game, while other contributors includes the likes of Mesut Ozil, Julian Draxler, Leon Goretzka along with veteran striker, Mario Gomez.
