Chelsea’s incredible 13th winning streak in the English Premier League finally come to an end this midweek as Antonio Conte’s men were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
The Blues suffered a 2-0 loss as Spurs’ young midfielder, Dele Alli got all of those two goals in each half of that intriguing top of table encounter.
Alli scored his opener just before half time break, finishing off a nice combination with Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, giving Spurs a precious lead going into half time break.
Conte’s side were determined to get themselves back into level terms, but their spirit was broken rather early as the England international midfielder grabbed his brace on 54 minutes.
Going two goals down, Chelsea tried hard to make any sort of comeback, but despite having control of the ball possession, the league leader failed to give much threat towards their opponent’s goal.
Eventually, it was Mauricio Pochettino’s men who proved their competitiveness in that tie as they came away with all three points and making the title challenge wide open again.
That result doesn’t chance Chelsea’s table topping seat, but they are now five points ahead of second place Liverpool, instead of creating eight points gap.
Meanwhile, Spurs themselves now sit joint third in the current league standings level on points with Manchester City as both are seven points a drift from the Blues.
