Colombia’s striker, Teoefilo Gutierrez might not be a household name in current world football scene as the River Plate player isn’t competing in top European clubs as just yet, but things might turned out different for him this summer should he participate in World Cup 2014.

Having been trusted by head coach, Jose Pekerman in some of Colombia’s latest games, there’s almost a certainty that Gutierrez will be heading to Brazil and he can’t say enough gratitude for his national team head coach for giving that opportunity.

Speaking to FIFA, Gutierrez revealed his admiration over Pekerman saying, “There aren’t many coaches you enjoy working with. He knows about football and nobody can say we don’t know our stuff. I’ll always be grateful to him, whether I play or not.”

Although receiving positive support from his national team coach, the River Plate attacker acknowledged that nothing is confirmed as just yet, that’s why he will try to work hard in achieving success with his club first before finally setting up his focus for Brazil.

Colombia themselves are being drawn into a tricky group with the likes of Ivory Coast, Japan and Greece, three teams that can potentially create problems for Pekerman’s men if they take things lightly.
