Chelsea continuing their fine start into this current English Premier League season as they grabbed another victory this weekend after defeating Newcastle United 2-1 at St. James Park.
Maurizio Sarri’s team tried to put on their aggressive attacking play since kick off, pushing their opponent hard with possession based football.
It was far from an easy task though for The Blues as Newcastle put on such solid defensive setup that forced Sarri’s men to work really hard in creating any sort of openings.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, things remain tight after the break as both teams still keeping the same kind of approach they set up since the first 45 minutes.
Chelsea’s relentless efforts finally got its reward when Eden Hazard puts them ahead from the spot on 76 minutes, scoring his first league goal of the new season.
That lead didn’t last long though as Newcastle were able to draw level on 83 minutes from a firm close range header scored by Joselu.
The Blues were able to regain their advantage as an their waves of attacking football resulted in an own goal from DeAndre Yedlin three minutes from time.
No more goals were scored by either teams until the final whistle was blown as Sarri’s men recorded another precious three points to make their start into the new premier league season perfect.
