Best Goals in FIFA World Cup Last 16 Day 1

The knock out stage of FIFA World Cup 2018 started with tons of excitement as the two games which saw France and Uruguay making it into the next round were filled with quality goals.

Starting the last 16 tie was Les Blues’ battle against two time champions, Argentina which resulted in seven goals thriller and while most of them were excellent, but there’s two special strikes that certainly stunned many.

Kylian Mbappe might be the main actor for France’s victory over Albiceleste with his two goals, but the marvelous strikes from Angel di Maria along with Benjamin Pavard deserved frequent reviewing.

Pavard’s strike came in the second half, not long after his side were going 2-1 down, the full back strike a lovely low volley kick with such perfect technique and accuracy.

His shot was just so sublime that those who practice the sport a lot would certainly enjoy it very much as it’s simply sensational and can’t be saved by any goalkeeper.

Di Maria’s goal actually happened earlier as he netted a sensational long range effort out of nowhere that made the score 1-1 jut before half time break.

It was a wonderfully executed strike which we haven’t seen recently from the Paris Saint-Germain player, though he certainly have that ability in making that type of shots.

The latest top goal, that certainly deserved another look was Edinson Cavani’s second, which decided Uruguay’s 2-1 victory over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.

Cavani scored both of his national team’s goals and though the attacker’s opener was also an excellent one, but that second goal was just stunning.

The former Napoli man simply executed his shot in such wonderful fashion, that even an outstretch effort from Rui Patrico on Portugal’s goal couldn’t do much about it.
