Bento Admits Ronaldo’s Influence on Portugal

Football is always being acknowledge as  a team sport, but at times there’s always certain individual that one team can rely on to provide that bit of spark on the pitch. That’s sentiment is basically what Portugal head coach, Paulo Bento was referring with his national side’s star player, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking in a recent press conference, Bento is not afraid to admit that Portugal is depending on Ronaldo’s quality, just like what Real Madrid did through out his time at Santiago Bernebau.

Although the Portuguese tactician is keen on seeing his team performing well as a group, but he can’t deny that having a quality individual such as Ronaldo will give more benefits for European Selecao especially for their upcoming World Cup 2014 campaign.

However, the ex-Manchester United’s man is not in a good condition at the moment as he hasn’t fully recovered yet from his injury. Although Ronaldo will still be flying to Brazil, but Bento also hope his teammates can still perform well when the current FIFA best player isn’t available.

Portugal’s performance hasn’t been convincing during the qualification round as they needed a playoff round to secure that one spot to Brazil. Obviously, things will be much tougher in the final round as they’re being paired with Germany, Ghana and USA.
