Another disappointing news arrives for football fan ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2014 as one more top player is confirmed to miss out on the upcoming tournament after Belgium and Aston Villa striker, Christian Benteke, teared his Achilles tendon.
The striker apparently sustained that major injury during a training session at Villa on Thursday and after an examination, the Premier League club officially confirmed that Benteke will be absent for at least six months.
Speaking about that disappointing news, Villa manager, Paul Lambert, reveals his beliefs that Benteke will come back even stronger next season. “It’s a terrible blow both for Christian and for the club.He will miss the rest of the season, obviously, and also the World Cup. But he’ll work hard because that’s what he does and he’ll come back for us stronger than ever next season,” lambert said.
The attacker has been one of Belgium top talents in recent times, as his performance with the Villans have been attracting several top clubs, now with this injury it’s almost likely that he won’t be going anywhere next season.
It will be interesting to see how much will Belgium are missing Benteke as they do have other quality talents up front such as Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and others who can perform at the highest level.
