Arsenal Gun Down Spurs in London Derby

Positive result arrived for Arsenal this weekend as Arsene Wenger’s men successfully picked up all three points against their arch rival, Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium.

Experiencing relatively good results recently after their disappointing start this season, Gunners were keen on picking up maximum result against their rival to get themselves back into that top four battle.

It was a tight encounter since the start as neither teams were keen on making mistakes and giving their opponent’s any opportunities.

However, it was the home side that eventually got that important breakthrough, albeit in a rather controversial manner, as Shkodran Mustafi heading home a lovely free kick from Mesut Ozil.

There’s a strong question of offside though on that goal as Mustafi was already ahead of Spurs’ defense even before the kick was taken by Ozil.

Nevertheless, the goal stood still and it simply brought things to live as Mauricio Pochettino’s men were forced to play more adventurous in search for an equalizer.

Gunners set up their tactic well though as through a quick and direct counter attack they snatched their second goal just before half time break, this time through Alexis Sanchez’s close range effort.

Trailing 2-0 down, Spurs tried hard to get back on level terms in the second half, but lack of sharpness up front combined with strong defensive display from Arsenal simply canceled off every attempt from the away team.

The host were able to hold their two goals lead until the final whistle was blown as they now sit in fifth place, closing in on that top four place.
