Arsenal keeping their Europa League hope alive and kicking as they grabbed a convincing first leg victory over CSKA Moscow on Thursday.
Playing the first leg at home, Gunners didn’t want to waste that opportunity as they immediately set off an attacking approach straight from kick off.
That positive mindset was immediately rewarded as Arsene Wenger’s side got themselves ahead after just nine minutes of play through Aaron Ramsey’s effort.
CSKA reacted positively through after going down as they pushed forward vigorously and got themselves an equalizing goal soon afterwards with an effort from Aleksandr Golovin.
Arsenal were not keen on drawing though as they regained their composure and went back ahead, this time following Alexandre Lacazette’s spot kick on 23 minutes.
Not long after that second goal, Gunners extended their advantage as Ramsay completed his brace giving his team a comfortable 3-1 lead, before Lacazette pretty much ended that tie with also his second on 35 minutes.
Positive results also being taken by other two favorites, Atletico Madrid along with Lazio as both won their first leg matches.
The La Liga side defeated Sporting from Portugal 2-0 with goals scored by Koke and Antoine Griezmann, both in the first 45 minutes of that tie.
Meanwhile, Lazio got themselves into a much thrilling encounter as they overcome RB Salzburg 4-2 at Olimpico stadium.
Biancocelesti’s four goals were netted by Senad Lulic, Marco Parolo, Felipe Anderson along with Ciro Immobile, while Salzburg’s reply arrived courtesy of Valon Berisha and Takumi Minamino.
