Liverpool vs Tottenham

Location: Anfield, Liverpool

Kick-Off: Wednesday, January 20, 3:00 PM ET

Liverpool

Liverpool may have saved their online betting odds with a 1-1 draw at Stoke, but they’ll have their hands full going up against a top-four club. Steven Gerrard? Out until next month. Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun? Out until next month, at least. Glen Johnson? Hopefully, back by March. The Jamie Carragher-led defense will have to play like they’ve never played before, because it’s difficult to see where goals are going to come from for Liverpool.

Tottenham

Spurs haven’t lost in their last six matches overall, and they haven’t lost away from White Hart Lane since a December 1st loss at Manchester United in the Carling Cup.  However, they’ll be without Aaron Lennon for this match, and the tricky winger has been at the heart of most Tottenham moves. Spurs have also been chasing Portsmouth’s David James as Carlo Cudicini recovers from a motorcycle accident, although Gomes has played well this season.

Outlook and Pick

Liverpool is a +130 favorite at home in your sportsbook, while Tottenham is rated at +180, and a draw comes in at +220. Spurs have drawn two and lost three of their last five trips to Anfield, and this seems like a good time to break that trend. The Reds are wounded right now, and Spurs surprisingly have more depth than Liverpool, especially up front where they can trot out Jermaine Defoe, Robbie Keane or Peter Crouch. Go with the home side.

Bookmakers odds (bookmaker reviews) pick: Tottenham +180
