FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 3-0 MANCHESTER CITY
Anfield favourite Ian Rush stands up to applaud the contribution of Andy Carroll as Kenny Daglish replaces his record signing for David N’gog, along with the rest of the Anfield crowd. Well played that man.

Man City: Hart, Boyata, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov, Barry, Toure Yaya, Milner, Tevez, Adam Johnson, Dzeko. Subs: Taylor, Zabaleta, Wright-Phillips, Silva, De Jong, Balotelli, McGivern.

GOAL: LIVERPOOL 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY (CARROLL)
Wallop! Andy Carroll scores his first goal for Liverpool – and what a belter too! The striker receives the ball courtesy of a deflection off Vincent Kompany following an ambitious 35-yard strike from Raul Meireles and straight into the former Newcastle player, who hammers an unstoppable left-footed strike from 25 yards past the diving right glove of Joe Hart.
GOAL: LIVERPOOL 2-0 MANCHESTER CITY (KUYT)
More calamitous City defending as the ball pinballs all around the 18-yard box before it finds its way to Dirk Kuyt, who side-foots a perfect finish from outside the penalty area, sending the Anfield faithful into raptures. City are in tatters. And less than 60 seconds later…
GOAL: LIVERPOOL 3-0 MANCHESTER CITY (CARROLL)
Raul Meireles pings over a right-wing cross into the box with Alexander Kolarov attempting to contain the aerial presence of Andy Carroll. The defender loses the aerial battle as the ball loops off a head beyond the desperate dive of Joe Hart. Replays suggest the ball came off the Serb’s head, I’ll let you know more if it is credited as an own goal.
