Adam Johnson has taken some friendly stick from his former team-mates who say he is the new Robinho. But ahead of today’s game against Hull, Manchester City’s new £7 million signing rejects comparisons with the £32.5 million Brazilian. For one thing, he intends to stick around. “The sky is the limit here,” said former Middlesbrough winger. “I have missed the Premier League a lot. It is where I want to be. A few of my old team-mates at Middlesbrough have been giving me a bit of banter, saying I’ve come to City to replace Robinho. But I’m not thinking about coming to replace Robinho or anyone else. I’m just going to try and be my own person and player. To be honest I’m a bit star-struck at some of the players around the dressing room. I have to try and keep my feet on the ground and not get carried away but I’m very proud to be here. Now I need to get my head down. I’ll play anywhere the manager wants me to.”
