PSG Vs Barcelona Highlights: The French club PSG hosted Barcelona at the Parc des Princes hoping to get an advantage as they were playing in their home turf. It was the 1rst leg of the quarter-finals with expectations going wild and the match did not disappoint.
Tito Vilanova also made his return following a cancer treatment he received in New York and the match kicked off brilliantly for the Spanish team as their ace Lionel Messi received a long pass from Dani Alves and the Argentine just bursted down the left wing until tapping it past the likes of Sirigu at the 38th minute.
The team of Vilanova was in the lead but it was PSG that made some initial threats against Victor Valdez. The goalkeeper was put to the test as he blocked a shot from Ibrahimovic from entering his net and some moments earlier he had already denied Lavezzi from scoring as well.
Unfortunately for the visitors Lionel Messi was replaced by Fabregas in the 2nd half as he appeared to have picked up an injury.
Former Ac.Milan player Ibrahimovic made a number of shots throughout the entire game and he was rewarded for his efforts in the 79th minute when a rebound allowed the Swedish to squeeze the ball past Valdez turning the game into a 1-1 draw.
Xavi Hernandez restored their lead 10 minutes as a penalty set-piece was given in favor of the Spanish team and the veteran midfielder made no mistake in scoring the 2nd for Barcelona.
Just as the match was reaching its end it seemed as if Barcelona was going to enter the 2nd leg with a huge advantage but Matuidi had the last say with a fierce strike which got its way into the net of Barcelona’s goalkeeper.
