Novara 1-1 Empoli highlights: Empoli picked up a positive result in the first leg of their Italy Serie B playoff round after holding home team Novara into a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
Playing away from home didn't stop Empoli from taking the first attacking initiative as they went ahead after just three minutes with a goal from Massimo Maccarone. However, that early effort was canceled out on 38 minutes when the home side grabbed an equalizer from Daniele Buzzegoli's spot kick.
After the break, there were no more goals netted by both sides as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw which might provide more disappointment for Novara considering they were missing out on taking a home advantage.
