Roberto Mancini’s team created a superb opening goal at the 23rd minute with Milner being released down the left wing after a number of sleek touches were done in midfield and the 27 years old midfielder had more than enough space to slip a quick pass over to the Bosnian Dzeko who scored with a simple tap in.

Sturridge responded for Liverpool with a thunderous strike which went right past Manchester City’s Joe Hart only 6 minutes later after Dzeko had found the back of the net.

Fans and players had to wait until the last 17 minutes of the 2nd half for the next goal to arrive. The ball fell into the path of the talismanic Steven Gerrard who did not hesitate in firing a long range shot which found its way into the corner of Joe Hart’s net.

It was a stunning goal from the veteran midfielder and it seemed as if the goal was enough for Liverpool to take the triumph but a disastrous mistake from the Spanish goalkeeper Reina changed everything.

When the ball was reaching his own box, Reina decided to collect it as he left his net completely empty in attempt of collecting the ball but Sergio Aguero arrived quicker than him and managed to chip it past the goalkeeper and into his net converting the 2nd and last goal of Manchester City.
