Last season's fourth place holder in Spanish La Liga, Athletic Bilbao didn't start their new league campaign in the best possible way after picking up a disappointing defeat from Malaga.
Having their mind in the Champions League playoffs phase against Napoli, Bilbao tried to give their best against Malaga.
However, the home side were no slouch as they put on a solid display that give many problems for their opponent.
The host finally got themselves ahead when Luis Alberto scored on 35 minutes, giving his side a 1-0 lead which lasted until half time break.
After the break, Bilbao tried hard to get themselves back into that tie, but they couldn't find that equalizing goal as Malaga running away with a 1-0 victory.
The away team must now prepare themselves for a difficult Champions League battle and forget their disappointing league defeat.
