Playing in front of their home crowd, Inverness were motivated in snatching all three points against their opponent.
However, it was Hamilton that made a brighter start as Anthony Andreu opened the scoring on 17th minutes.
Inverness were able to draw level midway into that first 45 minutes when Billy McKay finished off Marley Watkins' assist.
In the second half, it was Inverness that started better as they went 2-1 up on 59 minutes through Gary Warren's effort.
McKay completed his brace on 68 minutes to give his team a 3-1 lead, but Andreu made things interesting again with his second goal on 72 minutes.
Inverness eventually sealed all three points from that tie when James Vincent bagged his team's fourth on 78 minutes.
