Bayern Munich have had a terrible start to the 2011-12 season, and will look to get their first points of the Bundesliga campaign on Saturday as they travel to take on Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.
Wolfsburg had a poor 2010-11 season, and were lucky not to get relegated, finishing one pace above the dropzone in 15th. Felix Magath’s team started this term’s campaign well however, and beat Koln 3-0 last week, with a double from Patrick Helmes and a Marcel Schafer strike giving them three points. The club have bolstered their midfield in the summer, with Christian Trasch and Hasan Salihamidzic joining the team. Bwin gives odds of 3.90 to win on Saturday.
Bayern Munich had a below par campaign last year by their high standards, and it has not been any better this year as they unexpectedly lost their first game 1-0 at home to Borussia Monchengladbach. Jupp Heynckes team have been drawn against FC Zurich in the Champions League qualifiers, but his players must remain focussed on the Wolfsburg test if they want to avoid losing ground domestically early in the season. Star winger Franck Ribery started on the bench last week, and will not be happy if he does not make the starting XI this week. Bwin still have Bayern as favourites, and give the Bavarians odds of 1.85 to win on Saturday.
