Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says Fabio Capello should consider playing Wayne Rooney as a lone striker for England. Capello has admitted he’s facing a dilemma over which striker to choose to play alongside Rooney.
With no obvious candidate emerging it’s a headache for him – but Ferguson believes the solution is clear.
He said: “For me, it will be an option to play Wayne up front on his own at some point in games, it has to be. A lot of teams are doing that,” said the United manager. “And I think most players in the English game have now had to accept it’s a good way of playing. It is a problem who Capello plays up there with Wayne because there is no-one sticking their head out – it’s a problem.”
