Chelsea captain John Terry has phoned Manchetser United defender Ro Ferdinand to congratulate him on the England captaincy and assure him that he has his full backing.Terry was quick to voice his support for Ferdinand, appointed last Friday to succeed him as skipper. A close pal of Terry’s said : “John was the first person on the phone to Rio to offer him all the support he can. He was clearly hurt by his demotion, but knows the most important thing is that everyone pulls together for England.”
