FULL-TIME Arsenal 2-1 Huddersfield
Huddersfield have thrown everyone forward but are almost caught out on a break by the Gunners. Jack Hunt is booked for hauling down Cesc Fabregas on the edge of the box and time is running out for the League One side now.
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas on his side’s hard-fought FA Cup fourth round win over Huddersfield:
“I’m always ready to play. The first half was a little bit boring, but the second half was better and Huddersfield played some good football. We’re happy we don’t have to play an extra game because we’re in four competitions.” And on his appeals for Jamie McCombe to be sent off: “If it was a red card for the first one (Squillaci), then you have to give a red card for the other (McCombe). Some decisions you don’t understand, only the referee. But we don’t complain.”
GOAL Arsenal 1-0 Huddersfield (Peter Clarke)
Arsenal goal: Nicklas Bendtner’s afternoon has just got a lot, lot better. He races clear to meet Marouane Chamakh’s pass and, goes for goal from the right-hand corner of the area and hits Terriers defender Peter Clarke on its way into the net. Not sure whether his shot would have beaten Ian Bennett otherwise, or whether it was on target at all, but to call it an own goal seems harsh.
RED CARD Arsenal’s Sebastien Squillaci
Arsenal red card: Jack Hunt has been given a torrid time by Andrey Arshavin today but this time the boot is on the other foot. Hunt nicks the ball off Arshavin and heads for goal, beating a couple of men and only being stopped by Sebastien Squillaci’s very blatant block. He is the last defender, and referee Mark Clattenburg quickly gives him his marching orders. The Gunners are down to 10 men.
GOAL Arsenal 1-1 Huddersfield (Lee)
Huddersfield goal: It’s been coming. Anthony Pilkington’s corner is met by Alan Lee, who heads home his first Huddersfield goal on his 26th appearance for the Terriers. Arsenal’s 10 men are in real trouble here – with 25 minutes of the 90 left, the League One side will fancy their chances of winning this one
GOAL Arsenal 2-1 Huddersfield (Fabregas)
Arsenal goal: Harsh on Huddersfield. Very harsh. Nicklas Bendtner goes down very cheaply in the area following the faintest of touches from Jamie McCombe. Cesc Fabregas is asking for McCombe to be sent off, which is never good to see, but it’s just a booking. Anyway, finally the penalty is taken, and Fabregas steps up to slot home from the spot.
