Liverpool is on the verge of re-signing former Liverpool left-back Fábio Aurélio who left Anfield earlier this summer after failing to agree a new contract on a pay-as-you-play basis.

Liverpool’s manager Roy Hodgson has offered a two-year contract to bring him back to the Liverpool until 2012 and was also included in the traveling party for Sunday’s friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach.

In a recent interview with Liverpoolfc.tv., Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson told “I asked the club to find out whether Fabio had found a new club,”  “When we ascertained that he hadn’t, we invited him back to Melwood so myself and my staff and the medical team could properly assess the player.

“We were very impressed and I am delighted we were able to re-sign Fabio.”

Aurelio, who departed from Merseyside after making 71 Premier League appearances during his four seasons at the club, scoring three goals and also got several injuries which restricted him to just eight league starts last term.
