Arsenal’s injury crisis continues to grow after Aaron Ramsey was ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old limped out of training with an ankle injury this morning and did not travel with the rest of the squad to Germany.
Ramsey joins Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Abou Diaby and Thomas Vermaelen on the sidelines whilst Sebastien Squillaci is also struggling. Wenger stated, ‘Aaron Ramsey has been very influential in our team. But we have a big squad and we can cope with it. We have of course three midfielders out – Diaby, Wilshere and Ramsey – and it’s many but we still hopefully have a strong midfield’. Wenger will have to make do with a place in the stands on Tuesday night as he serves the first game of his two-match touchline ban.
Arsenal’s opponents Dortmund are not without their problems however – star striker Lucas Barrios has not played since tearing his thigh muscle in the Copa America on 24 July. Influential playmaker Mario Goetze is set to return however after missing their 2-1 defeat to Hertha Berlin on Saturday through suspension.
